Commonwealth Golf Club is rated highly amongst Australia’s top golf courses. The Club has hosted Australian Open Championships, as well as other major events such as the Victorian Open, Australian Amateur and Australian Ladies Open. Visitors should be invited to play by a member of Commonwealth, unless they are from interstate or overseas, in which case they may be introduced by the General Manager.

Since 1939, Tanunda Pines has been located on its current site at Pioneer Avenue, Rowland Flat. The current greenkeepers lunchroom, adjacent to the fifth tee block was the original clubhouse. This clubhouse witnessed the generous contribution and support of the members through difficult times. These members saw the club grow from a 9-hole course to the current 18-hole championship course.

Beyond the course, the club offers an aquatic driving range, practice putting greens, a fully equipped pro shop, a 25 meter lap pool, a gym, and the Oasis Bar overlooking the 18th green. Golf tuition is available from PGA professional Robert Brydon. 

Wildlife is part of the action: kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and native birds share the terrain and may appear along your walk.  One particularly famous hole is the 535m Par‑5 22nd, known for its demanding length and tight lines.  The 13th is another standout — a classic downhill tee shot sweeping around forest to a green guarded by bunkers.

The greens are well‑maintained and subtly contoured — accurate approaches and good pace reading pay dividends. After your round, the clubhouse offers panoramic views, modern dining, and a warm atmosphere where you can relax, share stories of your round, and plan your next tee time.

The name, Championship Golf Course, is a tribute to Country Club Tasmania’s proud history. Originally opened in 1982, the course was designed by Australian golf legend Peter Thomson and architect Michael Wolveridge, and quickly earned a reputation for its blend of links and parkland styles. The new name honours that pedigree while reflecting the resort’s ambition to host elite tournaments and become a destination for serious golfers across Australia and beyond.
