Peter Thomson Drive, Fingal, VIC AUSTRALIA

Golf Course Details

The Open Course at Moonah Links Resort in Fingal, Victoria, stands as a testament to championship golf in Australia. Designed by five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson and his team, this 18-hole, par-72 course was purpose-built to host the Australian Open, which it did in 2003 and 2005.

Stretching up to 6,829 meters from the back tees, the Open Course is among the longest in the country. Its layout features wide, undulating fairways, deep pot bunkers, and large, multi-tiered greens, all set amidst the natural contours of the Mornington Peninsula's dune landscape . The ever-present coastal winds add an extra layer of challenge, ensuring that no two rounds are the same

Course Overview

Notable holes include the 580-meter par-5 18th, often played into the wind and guarded by numerous bunkers, and the 202-meter par-3 17th, requiring a precise shot over a ravine to an elevated green . The course's design demands strategic play and thoughtful shot-making, offering a rigorous test for even the most seasoned golfers.
