Golf Course Details
Nestled in the heart of Queensland’s picturesque Scenic Rim, just an hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Kooralbyn Valley Golf Course stands as Australia’s original golf resort and continues to challenge with timeless appeal. Designed in 1979 by the renowned Desmond Muirhead - whom critics say considered this land “one of the best he had worked with in all of the 80 courses” he created.Course Overview
The 18 hole, par 72 championship layout weaves through rolling bushland, valleys, lakes, and woodlands. It offers dramatic elevation changes, standout holes like the 220 metre par 3 fifth (dropping over 30m to the green), and a double water - carry par 4 dubbed among the toughest on earth.
After hosting the 1981 Queensland Open and serving as the childhood proving ground for stars like Jason Day and Adam Scott, the course was revitalised following its 2016 reopening—featuring rebuilt greens, reshaped bunkers, pristine fairways, and an irrigation overhaul.
Consistently ranked among Australia's top resort layouts and celebrated for its raw beauty and strategic design, Kooralbyn Valley delivers a truly memorable round amid kangaroos, kookaburras, and the rhythmic backdrop of the MacPherson Ranges. Ideal for golfers seeking history, challenge, and natural splendor in one stunning package.
